American artist Gary Schott utilizes his skills as a Metalsmith to create playful and beautiful mechanized objects.

In addition to being the Chair of the Metals Department at the Southwest School of Art, Schott maintains a strong studio practice. His work has been described as exploring moments of human interaction through both sculptural and mechanical forms and interactive jewellery.

Her latest ranges are unusual representations of the natural world and its creatures, with a twist. Shiny gold spiders, matte black bats and antiqued beetles weave their way across jewellery designs.

After a year of great achievement Rachel Entwistle Jewellery has been recognised by being shortlisted for the New Designer of the Year at the UK Jewellery Awards 2012. The panel take into account accomplishments of the past year which included development and launch of a new product line, brand development as well as gaining new stockists in the UK, Europe and the US including Elizabeth Galton Studios.

In addition Rachel’s ventures into the retail world were a success with a stint collaborating on a Pop-Up shop on East London’s Columbia Road with Dynasty Jewellery which was soon followed by plans to open a permanent boutique in East London’s Shoreditch.

A refreshing use of unusual materials from Reborne Jewelry. Uber-creative and unlikely to go unnoticed.

From the Carnivorous collection by Annelise Michelson, this mounts the ear to make a statement and add an edge to any outfit.

The stunning lace patterns used in the range were sourced from various locations around the UK and Europe. One of the lace designs used is the same type of lace that was on Kate Middleton’s wedding dress; the now Duchess of Cambridge.

Our favorite is a type of lace from the Mediterranean island on Crete; dubbed the pineapple lace because of its distinctive forms. Another characteristic design is the vintage lace cuff decorated with an original 1920s handmade piece of lace.

The cuffs are marked using a technique not normally used in Jewellery manufacturing. It creates a permanent pattern on the metal with no surface texture at all – you can run your finger over the designs and not feel a thing. This method allows the mark to be striking black colour, which creates a dramatic contrast with the bright highly polished white metal. All the pieces in the collection are individually branded with the Jessica Flinn marks, which can be traced to each year of manufacturing and the location it was made.

The inlaid pieces, due to their flexibility and ease in manipulation, can be attached and wrapped around the body. The colour and the translucent quality of the material used can give the illusion of an ‘inlaid’ skin as the surface of the accessory becomes almost one with the skin, or a three dimensional extension of the skin.
